WordPress Website Design

A WordPress Website Design Company in Nigeria

WordPress is a good choice for a lot of Nigerian businesses: it is flexible, widely supported and easy for your own team to update, so you are never locked into one developer. It also breaks in predictable ways when it is set up carelessly, with a heavy theme, a pile of plugins and no updates.

We build WordPress websites the careful way: a theme customised around your content, a small set of well-configured plugins, proper caching and image optimisation, SEO set up from the first page, and at least two months of hands-on SEO after launch. We set up the WordPress dashboard so it is simple to use from day one.

WordPress Work

Themes, Plugins, Speed and Security

WordPress powers a large share of the web because it is flexible and easy to update. It also breaks in predictable ways when it is set up carelessly, and most of the WordPress rescue work we get asked to do traces back to the same handful of decisions.

  • WordPress theme setup and customisation

A bought WordPress theme is a starting point, not a finished website. We customise the theme so the layout matches your content rather than forcing your content into someone else’s demo, and we keep the changes update-safe so a theme update does not undo the work.

  • Plugin configuration, and restraint

Every plugin is code someone else maintains, and each one is a potential speed and security cost. We install what the site genuinely needs, configure it properly, and remove the four plugins doing the same job that accumulated over the years.

  • WordPress speed optimisation

Caching, image compression, database cleanup and cutting unused scripts. Nigerian visitors are mostly on mobile data, and a WordPress site that takes eight seconds to load is losing people before they see anything.

  • WordPress security and maintenance

Core, theme and plugin updates applied on a schedule, offsite backups, login hardening and monitoring. An unmaintained WordPress install is the single most common way a Nigerian small business site gets defaced.

If you already have a WordPress site that is slow, broken or abandoned by whoever built it, we take those over as well as building new ones.

WordPress or Custom?

WordPress or a Custom-Coded Website: Which We Recommend

We build both, so we have no reason to push you towards one. As a rule of thumb:

  • Choose WordPress when you mainly publish pages and blog posts, want a large choice of plugins, and want your team to be comfortable in a widely used editor.
  • Choose a custom build when your site needs logins, portals, bookings or workflows that plugins would have to be stacked to achieve, or when speed and security matter more than plugin choice. See our custom web application service.
  • Selling online? WooCommerce or a custom store depends on your catalogue; our ecommerce website design page explains how we decide.

What You Get

WordPress Website Design Features

What goes into a WordPress site we build, so it stays fast and easy to run.

  1. Custom theme around your brand

Your layout, colours and page types, not an unmodified template that looks like every other WordPress site.

  2. Editor set up for your team

Pages and posts editable in the WordPress dashboard, with the layout protected so edits do not break the design.

  3. SEO plugin configured properly

Titles, descriptions, sitemaps and structured data set up from the start, not left on default settings.

  4. Forms and bookings

Contact, quote and booking forms that arrive in your email, without a pile of overlapping form plugins.

  5. Backups and updates

Offsite backups and scheduled core, theme and plugin updates, so a bad update can be rolled back.

  6. Migration from other platforms

Your existing pages, posts and images moved to WordPress, with old addresses redirected so rankings are kept.

How We Do It

How We Build WordPress Websites: Our 9-Step Process

Every WordPress site goes through the same nine steps, from deciding whether WordPress is right for you to updates and SEO after launch.

  1. Step 01

    Is WordPress Right for You?

We start with what your website has to do, how often you will update it and who will do the updating. If WordPress is the right fit we say so; if your site needs portals, logins or complex workflows, we tell you a custom build will serve you better, before you spend anything.

  2. Step 02

    Competitor & Keyword Research

We study the sites that already rank for your services and find the searches your customers make, then plan one page per service and a blog around the questions customers ask, so WordPress's strength as a publishing tool actually works for your SEO.

  3. Step 03

    Theme & Structure

We choose a lightweight, well-maintained theme and customise it around your content in a child theme, so updates never undo the design. Page structure, menus and short, readable permalinks are planned before content goes in.

  4. Step 04

    Plugins, with Restraint

We install only the plugins the site genuinely needs, such as SEO, forms, caching, backups and security, configure each one properly, and document what each does. Fewer plugins means fewer updates, fewer conflicts and a faster site.

  5. Step 05

    Technical SEO

We configure the SEO plugin so every page has a unique title and description, a canonical URL and the right structured data, generate the XML sitemap, set up clean permalinks and compress images with descriptive names and alt text.

  6. Step 06

    Speed & Security Hardening

Caching, image compression and script cleanup keep pages fast on mobile data. Login hardening, HTTPS, least-privilege user accounts and offsite backups protect the site before it goes live, and we test every page, form and button on phones and desktops.

  7. Step 07

    Launch & Migration

If you are moving from another platform or an old WordPress install, we migrate your pages, posts and images and redirect every old address to its new page, so rankings are kept. Then we launch on your domain and check that everything can be indexed.

  8. Step 08

    Training & Search Console

We show your team how to edit pages and publish posts without breaking the layout, connect Google Search Console and Analytics and submit the sitemap, so you can see which searches bring visitors.

  9. Step 09

    Updates & SEO Support

After launch we keep WordPress core, the theme and plugins updated and backed up, and give your site at least two months of hands-on SEO, improving the pages closest to page one. Longer-term care is available through our website maintenance service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About WordPress Website Development

Straight answers to what clients ask us before they start.

How much does a WordPress website cost?

Our business websites, including WordPress sites, start from ₦250,000, and WooCommerce stores from ₦400,000. Our guide to WordPress website cost in Nigeria explains what is included. See our website prices.

Should I choose WordPress or a custom website?

WordPress suits sites that mainly publish pages and posts. A custom build suits sites with logins, portals, bookings or complex workflows. We build both and recommend one after hearing what your site needs to do. Our guide compares them in detail: WordPress vs custom website development.

Why should I choose WordPress for my website?

WordPress gives you a flexible, widely supported platform where you can manage content, add pages and extend functionality with plugins, without being locked into a single developer.

Will my WordPress site use a custom design or a generic template?

We build a custom theme and layout around your brand rather than using an unmodified off-the-shelf template, so your site looks distinct, not like every other WordPress site.

Do you handle plugin updates and security after launch?

Yes. WordPress sites need regular plugin, theme and core updates to stay secure. We offer ongoing maintenance to keep your site updated and protected.

Can you fix my slow or broken WordPress site?

Yes. We take over WordPress sites that are slow, broken or abandoned, starting with a check of the theme, plugins, speed, backups and security, and tell you what needs fixing first.

Can you migrate my existing website to WordPress?

Yes. We can migrate your existing content, pages and posts from another platform to a new WordPress site, and redirect the old addresses so you keep your rankings.

Will my WordPress site be optimised for SEO?

Yes. We set up proper SEO plugins and structure from the start, and every project includes at least two months of hands-on SEO after launch to help you rank.
