WEBSITE DEVELOPER IN NIGERIA

Lagos-Based, Not Lagos-Limited

Distance changes how we talk, not what we build, so projects outside Lagos run over Google Meet, calls and WhatsApp.

Our proof is checkable. Our case study with IMT Computers, an FOA-accredited training school in Lagos, shows 46 registrations within 10 days of launch and page-one Google rankings for its core search terms, from the same build-and-SEO process we apply to every project. Whether you are in Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, Port Harcourt or anywhere else in Nigeria, you get a fast, mobile-first website built to rank, not just exist.

Website Developer Tech is a website design and development agency based in Ikeja, Lagos, working with clients across Nigeria. Our office is in Ikeja, but the majority of our process was built to work remotely from day one, because most of our clients outside Lagos never expected an in-person meeting to begin with. Discovery calls, revisions and handover all happen the same way whether you are a 10-minute drive away or in a different state entirely.

Real, Checkable Proof

What a Website Developer in Nigeria Does for Your Business

A website developer plans, designs and builds your website so that customers can find it on Google, trust it and contact you. For a Nigerian business that usually means:

  • Planning pages around real searches, such as "accountant in Abuja" or "school in Port Harcourt", instead of guessing.
  • Building for phones and mobile data, because that is how most Nigerians browse.
  • Connecting local payments like Paystack, Flutterwave, Monnify and Opay when you sell online.
  • Setting up Google: Search Console, Analytics and your Google Business Profile.
  • Handing you control through an admin dashboard, so updates do not depend on the developer.

How to Choose a Reliable Website Developer in Nigeria

Most bad website experiences in Nigeria trace back to a handful of avoidable mistakes. Before you pay anyone, including us, check these:

  • Live websites you can open. Ask for links to real client sites, not screenshots or templates.
  • Results you can verify. Rankings, enquiries or sales the client would confirm, not percentages with no source.
  • A written scope and fixed price. Pages, features and what happens after launch, agreed before work starts.
  • Ownership. The domain registered in your business name, and admin access handed to you.
  • SEO knowledge. Ask how each page will be found on Google. If the answer is "we will add keywords", keep looking.
Red flagWhy it matters
No live examplesYou cannot judge speed, quality or whether the sites still work
Domain registered in the developer's nameYou do not fully own your website
No admin accessEvery small change becomes a new invoice
"We will do SEO later"SEO decided after the build usually means rebuilding pages
Full payment before any workNo protection if the project stalls

Our longer hiring checklist covers the questions to ask in detail.

How a Project Works Outside Lagos

Distance changes how we talk, not what we build. A typical project outside Lagos runs like this:

  • Discovery call. A Google Meet or phone call to understand your business, customers and competitors in your city.
  • Plan and quote. A written page plan, keyword targets and a fixed price before any work starts.
  • Build and review. You review the site on a private link and send feedback by WhatsApp, email or call.
  • Launch and handover. We launch, connect Google Search Console and Analytics, and show you how to use your admin dashboard.
  • SEO support. At least two months of tracking and improvements after launch.

Local SEO in Your City, Not Just Lagos

A website built in Lagos should not read like a Lagos website if your customers are in Kano, Enugu or Benin City. We research the searches people make in your city, write pages around them, and set up your Google Business Profile with your real address, so you appear in your local map results rather than ours.

Where We Have Dedicated Pages

For Lagos, see our page for a website developer in Lagos and the individual area pages linked below. Outside Lagos, we have pages for Abuja, Ogun State, Ibadan and Osun State.

A website that nobody finds earns nothing, so search visibility runs through everything we build. More on how we work as an SEO agency in Nigeria.

How We Do It

How We Build Websites for Nigerian Businesses: Our 9-Step Process

Every website we build for a Nigerian business goes through the same nine steps, from checking who already ranks in your area to SEO support after launch. Search and AI visibility are planned in from the first step, not added at the end.

  1. Step 01

    Business & Competitor Research

We start with a conversation on Google Meet or a call, or in person if you are in Lagos, to learn how your business makes money and who your customers are. Then we search Google the way customers in Nigeria do and study the businesses like yours in your own city that already appear on the first page and in the map results: what their sites cover, what they leave out and how fast they load on a phone.

A person typing on a laptop at a meeting-room table Printed charts being reviewed beside a laptop
  2. Step 02

    Local Keyword Research

We find the exact searches people make in your city, such as "caterer in Enugu", "school in Port Harcourt" or "logistics company in Kano", and group them by intent: people comparing options and people ready to buy or book. Each group gets one page, so your pages never compete with each other for the same search.

  3. Step 03

    Website Development & SEO Architecture

Before any code, we plan one page per service and a contact page with your full address, a map and the details customers use to find you (your real address and city). Every page is written for the searches in your city, not ours. Then we build a fast, mobile-first site with clean HTML and short, descriptive URLs.

  4. Step 04

    Admin Dashboard

Your site comes with its own admin dashboard, so you update prices, services, photos, opening hours and blog posts yourself as your business in Nigeria changes, without code and without waiting on a developer. See how our admin dashboard works.

A website admin dashboard with sales and visitor charts on a laptop An IMT website admin dashboard showing enrolments and revenue charts
  5. Step 05

    Technical & Local SEO

Every page gets a unique title and description written for searches in your city, a canonical URL and LocalBusiness structured data with the same name, address and phone number as your Google Business Profile. We add an XML sitemap, compress images and give them descriptive names and alt text.

An SEO dashboard showing organic traffic and rankings on a laptop Website source code open on a laptop screen
  6. Step 06

    Security & Testing

The site runs on HTTPS. Before launch we test every page, form, WhatsApp button and payment on real phones over mobile data, because customers in every Nigerian city search locally and on their phones, so a Lagos-sounding website does not help you in Kano or Benin City.

A website health and security monitoring dashboard on a laptop Website page layouts open on two desktop screens
  7. Step 07

    Launch

We move the site to your domain, redirect any old page addresses so rankings your old site earned are kept, and check that every page loads, links correctly and can be indexed by Google.

Deploying a website from the cPanel hosting control panel A man on a video call on his laptop
  8. Step 08

    Google Search Console & Analytics

We connect Google Search Console and Google Analytics and submit your sitemap. From then on we can see which searches in your city bring visitors, where each page ranks and which pages are close to page one.

  9. Step 09

Google Business Profile & SEO Support

We set up or improve your Google Business Profile for Nigeria, with your address or service area, photos, opening hours and the right categories, and help you ask customers for reviews. Then we keep improving your SEO for at least two months after launch, often every week.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions From Nigerian Businesses

Straight answers to what businesses in Nigeria ask us before they hire a website developer.

How much does a website cost for a Nigerian business?

A business website starts from ₦250,000 for up to five pages, and an e-commerce store starts from ₦400,000. Every website includes an admin dashboard, on-page SEO setup, an SSL certificate and two months of hands-on SEO support after launch. See our website prices for what each package includes.

Do you only work with Lagos businesses?

No. Our office is in Lagos, but our process works fully online, and we build for businesses across Nigeria.

Does the price change depending on where I am in Nigeria?

No. Business websites start from ₦250,000 and ecommerce stores from ₦400,000 wherever you are, and the process and support are the same.

How does the process work if I'm not in Lagos?

The same as for a Lagos client: a discovery call, a fixed quote, build, review on a private link, launch and SEO support, all handled over Google Meet, calls and WhatsApp.

Will my website rank in my own city, not Lagos?

That is the aim. We research searches in your city, write pages for them and set up your Google Business Profile with your real address, so you appear in local results where your customers are.

How do I know a website developer in Nigeria is reliable?

Ask for live client websites you can open, results the client would confirm, a written scope and fixed price, and make sure the domain is registered in your business name.

How do we handle payment if I am outside Lagos?

A deposit and a balance, agreed upfront. We confirm the payment method with you before any work starts.

Do you design the website as well as build it?

Yes. We are website designers and developers in one team: we plan and design the layout for Nigerian customers, including how it looks on a phone, then build it, set up the admin dashboard and handle the SEO. You deal with the same people from the first design to launch, and you can see the design approach in our case studies.

Prices shown are for projects in Nigeria, in naira. If your business is based outside Nigeria, see our pricing for international clients.
