Best SIWES Placement Company in Lagos (2026 Guide)

Introduction

SIWES placement season in Lagos means most Computer Science and IT students are scrambling to find somewhere that will actually teach them something, not just sign a logbook for six months. Here's what to look for, and who's actually set up to deliver it.

What to Look for in a SIWES Placement Provider

• A real training structure, not just a desk and a supervisor who's too busy to teach.

• A specific skill area, fiber optics, web development, networking, so you leave with something concrete on your CV, not a vague "IT experience" line.

• Willingness to actually place you, some institutes only offer training and expect you to arrange placement elsewhere yourself.

• Proximity and schedule that work for your SIWES period, Lagos traffic makes this more important than it sounds.

SIWES Placement Options in Lagos

• IMT Computers: Ikeja, Lagos. Offers structured SIWES and industrial training placement across fiber optics, full stack web development, and IT support, with hands-on training rather than passive observation.

• HiiT PLC: Branches across Lagos including Ikeja, Surulere, and Yaba, also accepts SIWES students across its IT training tracks.

Why IMT Computers Works Well for SIWES Students

Because IMT Computers is an FOA Accredited Training Centre (#718) for fiber optics specifically, SIWES students who train there leave with exposure to an internationally recognized certification track, not just generic office experience. The same applies to its web development and IT tracks, structured, hands-on, and specific enough to actually strengthen a CV.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I do my SIWES in fiber optics without prior experience?

Yes. Fiber optics training through the FOA's CFOT track is designed as an entry point and doesn't require prior experience.

How early should I start looking for SIWES placement?

Ideally 3-6 months before your training period begins, placements fill up and last-minute scrambling limits your options.

Does SIWES placement at IMT Computers include a certification?

Students training in the fiber optics track can pursue FOA certification (CFOT and beyond) as part of their SIWES period.

Final Thoughts

The right SIWES placement gives you a real skill, not just a completed logbook. Look for structure, a specific skill area, and a provider that actually places you rather than leaving you to figure it out.
